The services I provide are not a cure for anxiety or depression but are intended to assist you in moving forward after seeking—or while currently seeking—professional help from a counselor or therapist.
I will seamlessly integrate aspects of these techniques, adapting and refining them as needed to support you in reaching your goals.
CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Techniques
CBT believes that we can control our emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, enabling us to create the life that we want.
DBT - Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
DBT is a form of CBT. Where CBT was originally developed to treat Borderline Personality Disorder, it is seen as too rigid. DBT is much more flexible in its approach and encourages change. It also incorporates mindfulness and acceptance.
ACT – Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT is another form of CBT. It combines CBT with mindfulness to produce new and different approaches.
Other Therapies such as CBT, try to eliminate and reduce negative experiences, whereas ACT teaches us to embrace them and focuses on behaviour, so we can live the life we want. As ACT is behavioural based, the techniques and strategies given, is mainly done outside of sessions.
NLP – Neuro Linguistic Programming
Neuro is the study of our thought processes. Linguistics is about our language structure and Programming is the strategies and sequences of actions.
NLP aids in understanding how people think, communicate, and act. It enables us to understand that there is a connection between our mind, language, and behaviours; in turn, we can reshape this connection to achieve our goals.
